What an EPC is
An Energy Performance Certificate shows an energy-efficiency rating and includes information about energy use and possible improvements. It is not a building survey.
Check before ordering
An EPC may already exist. Use the official register first and check the expiry date before paying for another assessment.
Selling and letting
Most homes being sold or let need an EPC, subject to exemptions and different rules across the UK. Use the current official guidance for the nation where the property is located.
Keep the certificate with your records
