- Confirmation that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are fitted and working
- A licence, where the property requires one
Before you part with any money
- View the property in person. Never take a tenancy on photographs alone
- Verify that the person letting it to you owns it or is authorised to let it
- Never transfer a deposit to secure a property you have not seen
- Be cautious of a landlord who cannot meet, will only message, or pressures you to pay quickly. That pattern is how rental fraud works
Fair treatment
